      TURNING IN: WHAT TO EXPECT.

The TURN-IN is at Cultural Arts Center. The address is 15 W Patrick St (across from the Weinberg Center) but you need to come around the corner to the Market Street Entrance.

Walk into the gallery and scream out your Team Name. You friggin made it!

You can turn in your movies from 7-9pm. When you turn in, sign some posters (Best of the Fest winner will get one), pick up some free TShirts, and grab a free "Cookie of TRIUMPH" baked by our very own Award Designer Rebeccah Bartlett. If you were not interviewed during Launch Party, please be ready to answer a few short questions from Zack when you turn in.

      What formats do we accept?

We want files. Quicktime. AVI if not Quicktime. We will reluctantly take DVD, MiniDV or even WMV. With non-HD movies- Do NOT reduce the resolution for anything below original settings. Resolution can not be less than 720x480 (640x480 on some cameras). We will judge what is in our hands Sunday by 9pm, but we cannot screen any movies on Friday that are not 720x480 (640x480 on some cameras) and in our hands by Monday at 9pm. Anyone out there with HD camera may provide us with an HD resolution file (1920x1080 or less) for judging on Sunday, but must provide us an SD file (720x480) by Monday at 9pm to screen on Friday.

Feel free to call us with any questions, and if you are unsure how to export files, go to Youtube and search "Export File in Final Cut" or "Export File in Sony Vegas" or whatever you have. There's a lot of useful tutorials out there.

      What is 72 Fest?

72 Fest is a performing arts organization, which is headquarted in Frederick, MD and provides an outlet for artists to develop new, original works within a 72-hour period of time within the direction of a team-based competition. 72 Film Fest is our flagship event happening every October.

      How it Works

      1) Artists form teams, comprised of 1-to-infinity team members, and register on our website.
      2) At the Launch Party, teams select Secret Criteria, to be the basis for the short film they will be creating.
      3) Teams are given precisely 72-hours to write, shoot, score, edit, and turn in their movie.
      4) The following weekend every eligible movie turned in on time* will screen to a packed-out audience at the historic Weinberg Center theater in downtown Frederick. The movies are judged by a panel of industry professionals, and awards and prizes will be handed out to films that excel in various categories.
